Today Haglöfs is the largest supplier of outdoor equipment in the Nordic region.
What started with Victor’s backpack has grown into a range of 350 products, and the Haglöfs market has expanded from the Swedish towns of Torsång, Rättvik and Sveg to include the whole of Scandinavia, Europe and Japan.
So what have we learned from our 90 years in the outdoor business?
Above all, to make gear which really works. And since our products have to function during some of the most extreme and demanding activities undertaken by humans, this must be taken into account in the design of the smallest details as well as in the kit as a whole.
It’s part of the fundamental idea behind our products.
For example, all our clothes are part of a layer-on-layer system, where all parts act as building blocks resulting in a clothing range which can be made to work in virtually any conditions.

It’s in the design of carefully thought-through details.
For example, flatlock seams are used in all garments worn next to the skin, to ensure that they are comfortable and don’t chafe.
It’s in groundbreaking innovations, which move the development of outdoor gear to a new level.
As in Topo, Haglöfs’ top-of-the-range backpack, the first in the world to use the Weight In Balance System (WiB), an adjustable carrying system developed by Haglöfs, with a stability equal to that of a frame backpack.
Footwear
The different styles in our footwear share a few common features. All have thermal plastic heel counters, designed to mimic the natural shape of your heel and provide excellent support throughout the boot’s entire lifespan. Most also have thermal plastic toe puffs that protect your toes and help retain the boot’s fit. Outsoles have well placed and carefully engineered flex points that give an energy-saving, rolling stride that is gentle on your body.
Our lasts are generally wider over the front with a somewhat narrower, sculpted heel. This allows your toes to expand inside the boot for a good, strong stride projection while the heel grip provides superb stability. The insole is modified for each specific boot, and offers varying degrees of flex, weight and stability depending on what the boot is intended for and its characteristics. As a critical part of the boot, the insole contributes to its stiffness, helps it bend where it should and protects your feet on uneven ground.
Women’s footwear is available in sizes 36–42 and men’s footwear in sizes 40–48.
